How to Use ADINOX M480?
Surface Preparation
- Wear gloves and protective eyewear - work in a well-ventilated area
- Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil and contaminants - degrease with ADINOX® DS 400
- Higher bond strengths are achieved on lightly sanded surfaces - most metals bond without primer
Prepare the Adhesive
- Purge the cartridge before installing the 10:1 static mixing nozzle
- Discard the initial mixed material in the nozzle to ensure the proper mix ratio
- Apply between 65°F and 85°F for optimal cure - lower temperatures slow cure, higher temperatures accelerate it
Bond and Cure
- Fill the gap completely and join parts within the 2 - 4 min open time
- Immobilize the parts during the 10 - 15 min working time - do not move until handling strength is reached
- Full cure in 24 h at 77°F - clean uncured adhesive with isopropanol, acetone or MEK; cured adhesive only by mechanical removal

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ADINOX M480 high temperature methacrylate adhesive?
ADINOX M480 is a high temperature methacrylate adhesive: a two-component (10:1) toughened structural adhesive that withstands electrostatic powder coating bake cycles up to 392°F for 60 minutes and bonds metals — including galvanized steel — plastics and composites.
Is M480 resistant to chemicals and weathering?
Yes. After 30-day immersion (ASTM D 1002, Al/Al), this high temperature methacrylate adhesive retains over 2,900 PSI against gasoline, xylene, 10% acetic acid, HD-30 oil, kerosene and hot water, and keeps over 3,046 PSI after the 30-day environmental cycle.
Which substrates does M480 bond?
It bonds stainless steel, aluminum (1000-6000 and anodized), carbon steel, galvanized steel, ABS, PMMA, nylon, PBT, PPO, PVC, PET, polycarbonate, fiberglass (FRP), carbon fiber, Kevlar, wood and ceramics. It is not suitable for PE/PP, PTFE, silicone, aluminum 7000, copper, bronze or brass.
What gap can M480 fill?
M480 fills gaps up to 0.24 in for irregular joints with no sagging, thanks to its thixotropic consistency.
How strong is M480?
This high temperature methacrylate adhesive delivers tensile strength of 3,481 PSI (ASTM D 638), lap shear above 3,191 PSI on aluminum with cohesive failure, impact resistance of 21 ft·lb/in (ASTM D 256) and cleavage peel above 23 pli initial.
What is the mix ratio of M480?
M480 is a high temperature MMA adhesive with a 10:1 mix ratio by volume (9:1 by weight), dispensed through a static mixing nozzle from a dual cartridge, with a 2-4 minute open time and handling strength in 10-15 minutes.
Does M480 need a primer on galvanized steel?
No. M480 provides structural adhesion without primer to metals including galvanized steel — evaluated on G60, G70 and G90 grades — stainless steel and aluminum, with lap shear above 2,611 PSI on galvanized steel (G70).
What is the continuous service temperature of M480?
This heat resistant structural adhesive performs continuously from -40 to 250°F. The 392°F rating applies to powder coating bake cycles of up to 60 minutes, not to continuous service.
Can M480 go through powder coating bake ovens?
Yes. M480 resists electrostatic powder coating temperatures up to 392°F for 60 minutes — bond the assembly first, then bake it with the part. It is suited for automotive OEM paint lines and appliances with baked enamel finishes.
