About ADINOX C95 - Cyanoacrylate for Rubber and Plastics

ADINOX® C95 is a medium-viscosity ethyl cyanoacrylate for rubber and plastics, engineered for rubbers, plastics, and natural fibers. Classified as a low-bloom cyanoacrylate, its improved formula reduces the blooming effect that causes white haze around bond lines on visible assemblies, while offering minimal odor compared to standard ethyl cyanoacrylates - making it an effective low-odor cyanoacrylate alternative for industrial assembly.

Meets MIL-PRF-46050 Type II Class 2 specification. With 70-95 cP viscosity, this medium viscosity cyanoacrylate fills slight gaps while controlling flow on porous and vertical substrates. As a cyanoacrylate for plastics and a plastic bonding adhesive, it achieves lap shear strength of 3,190 PSI on steel and fixtures in as little as 1-3 seconds on EPDM rubber. As a cyanoacrylate for rubber, it also performs as a reliable cyanoacrylate for neoprene with fixture times under 5 seconds.

Cyanoacrylate for Rubber and a Plastic Bonding Adhesive - Fast and Reliable

  • A versatile cyanoacrylate for rubber and plastics in a single grade
  • Fastest on EPDM - fixture in 1-3 seconds
  • Bonds neoprene, nitrile, leather, ABS, and polycarbonate

How to Use

Surface Preparation

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, and contaminants. Degrease with ADINOX® DS 400 (or acetone). For low-energy plastics (PE, PP, PTFE), apply ADINOX® 770 polyolefin primer.

Application

Apply one drop per 1 in² to one surface only. Apply to the center of the bond area - capillary action will draw the adhesive across the gap. Do not apply excessive adhesive; excess material increases blooming risk and cure time.

Assembly

Press parts together firmly and hold for the substrate-specific fixture time (see substrate table above). Keep the bond line tight, since gaps slow down curing. Bond strength increases until full cure at 24 hours.

Storage

Store between 36-50°F for maximum 12-month shelf life. Allow product to reach room temperature before use. Always replace cap immediately after dispensing to prevent moisture ingress and nozzle clogging.

Accelerator (Optional)

For slow-curing substrates or acidic surfaces, apply ADINOX® 712 activator to the second surface before assembly. This is especially useful on metals and inactive materials where fixture times exceed 30 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "low bloom" mean for a cyanoacrylate for rubber and plastics?

Blooming is a white haze that forms around cyanoacrylate bond lines caused by cured adhesive vapor settling on surrounding surfaces. ADINOX® C95 uses an improved formula that reduces blooming, producing cleaner bond lines on visible assemblies. This makes C95 a clean-bonding cyanoacrylate for rubber and plastics in applications where aesthetics matter, such as clear plastics and display components.

Is C95 an odorless cyanoacrylate?

No. ADINOX® C95 offers minimal odor - significantly reduced compared to standard ethyl cyanoacrylates, but not completely odorless. For environments requiring the lowest possible odor, consider ADINOX® C50, which uses methoxyethyl chemistry for ultra-low odor performance.

Which plastics does C95 bond best?

ADINOX® C95 bonds excellently to ABS (10-15 sec fixture) and polycarbonate (10-30 sec), making it an effective cyanoacrylate for plastics on visible assemblies. For low-energy plastics such as PE, PP, and PTFE, pre-treat with ADINOX® 770 polyolefin primer.

Can C95 bond rubber?

M305 fills gaps up to 0.275 in (7 mm), making it suitable for irregular joints and oversized bond lines without sagging on vertical surfaces.

What is the difference between C95 and C50?

Both reduce blooming, but they use different base chemistries. ADINOX® C95 is an ethyl cyanoacrylate with low-bloom and low-odor properties - it retains full bonding strength of ethyl CA (3,190 PSI). ADINOX® C50 is a methoxyethyl cyanoacrylate with ultra-low odor and low bloom - ideal for odor-sensitive environments but with slower fixture times on some substrates.

Does C95 need primer for polycarbonate?

No primer is required. ADINOX® C95 bonds directly to polycarbonate with a fixture time of 10-30 seconds. However, for low-energy plastics (PE, PP, PTFE), always apply ADINOX® 770 polyolefin primer before bonding.

Is C95 a good plastic bonding adhesive for plastic-to-metal assemblies?

Yes. ADINOX® C95 works as a versatile plastic bonding adhesive and a fast instant adhesive for plastic, fixturing ABS in 10-15 seconds and polycarbonate in 10-30 seconds. For metal to plastic bonding, its 70-95 cP medium viscosity fills slight gaps between dissimilar substrates - bonding plastic components to aluminum (20-30 sec) or carbon steel (25-40 sec). For low-energy plastics (PE, PP, PTFE), pre-treat with ADINOX® 770 primer. Because the same grade is also a fast cyanoacrylate for rubber, one C95 bottle covers mixed rubber, plastic, and metal assemblies.

When should I use a medium viscosity cyanoacrylate instead of thin or gel?

medium viscosity cyanoacrylate (70-95 cP, like ADINOX® C95) is ideal when you need to control flow on porous, vertical, or uneven surfaces where a thin adhesive would wick away or drip. It fills slight bond gaps while providing enough capillary action for distribution. Choose thin CA (under 30 cP) for tight metal joints with minimal gap; choose gel CA (over 1,000 cP) for overhead applications or large gaps.

What is the best low-odor cyanoacrylate for rubber bonding?

For rubber bonding with reduced odor, ADINOX® C95 is the recommended cyanoacrylate for rubber in its class. It achieves 1-3 sec fixture on EPDM and under 5 sec on neoprene - faster than medium-viscosity alternatives requiring 90 cP - while keeping odor at minimal levels without switching to methoxyethyl chemistry. No primer is needed for most rubber substrates.

Is C95 food safe?

No. Cyanoacrylate adhesives are not food-grade and should not be used in direct or indirect food contact applications. ADINOX® C95 is a cyanoacrylate for rubber and plastics designed for industrial assembly, not for food contact.
