About ADINOX MS40 Flexible MS Polymer Sealant
ADINOX® MS40 is a high-quality low modulus sealant — a multipurpose MS polymer adhesive sealant free of isocyanates, solvents and silicone, non-corrosive to metals. It cures with ambient moisture into a highly stable, flexible elastomer resistant to UV and ozone, with excellent adhesion to most materials used in the body shop, automotive and construction industries.
With 350% elongation and a low Shore A 40 hardness, this flexible MS polymer sealant absorbs movement, vibration and thermal cycling — the movement joint sealant for construction, marine and general repairs. It is odorless, bubble-free and shrink-free, and can be applied on damp surfaces and even underwater.

How to Use ADINOX MS40?
Surface Preparation
- Surfaces must be clean, dry and free of dust, grease and contaminants
- Degrease thoroughly with acetone or isopropyl alcohol; brush off loose particles
- Apply between +41°F and +104°F - suitable on damp surfaces, even underwater
- For PC and PMMA pre-treat with ADINOX +217 primer
Joint Sealing
- Ensure proper joint dimensions for correct movement absorption
- Sealing joints: width 1/4 - 1 in, depth 1/4 - 9/16 in
- Apply the sealant filling the joint completely; tool the bead for uniform contact
- Suitable for movement and expansion joints (non-structural)
Cure and Clean
- Skin forms in 20 min; handling after 4 hours minimum
- Cure depth 1/8 in per 24 h - full cure in 48 - 72 hours
- Clean uncured sealant from surfaces and tools with acetone or isopropyl alcohol
- Cured sealant can only be removed mechanically (cutting, sanding)

What makes MS40 a low modulus sealant?

Is ADINOX MS40 paintable?
Yes. Emulsion paints show optimal compatibility after skin formation. Synthetic paints may dry slowly — lightly sand, degrease with IPA and paint immediately, verifying adhesion beforehand.
Is MS40 suitable for movement and expansion joints?
Yes, for non-structural movement and expansion joints: its 350% elongation absorbs joint movement and vibration. It is not suitable for structural expansion joints or permanent immersion under continuous hydrostatic load.
What is the difference between MS40 and S70?
MS40 is a low-modulus, flexible multipurpose sealant (350% elongation, Shore A 40) for movement joints. S70 is a higher-modulus sealant with instant tack for bonding applications requiring immediate holding strength.
Can MS40 be applied on wet surfaces?
